Mykonos, Greece Trip Report - May 13 - 19, 2015

Mykonos was the second part of my trip to Greece.  Six days in Santorini and six in Mykonos.  My gait here was much slower and lazier than in Santorini.  I was in relax mode and just taking things at a leisurely pace rather than trying to see everything I possibly could.  It felt more sedate and laid back here too, but of course, I wasn't out partying late at night either so I can't comment to that.  Because I spent so much time writing the Santorini report, I really didn't feel like writing this one at all while I was there, so I finished most of it when I got home.

Santorini, Greece Trip Report - May 6 - 13, 2015

This year I decided to do something totally different from my usual thoughts of travel.  Our dollar was sucking in the U.S.A. anyway, and I wanted to go somewhere that I have never been.  However, the Euro equally sucked for me.  It started out at $1.50 CAD for me to buy ONE Euro and then it got a bit better and was about $1.38 when I bought just before I left for my trip.

Key West Trip Report - November 24 - December 1, 2014

I always want to return to Key West but it's so inconvenient for me living on the Pacific Wet Coast, and not to mention expensive!  I've had "Keys Disease" since my first visit when I was twenty-one.  It then took me till I was forty-five to return next though it wasn't for lack of trying.  Key West often crosses my mind and makes me long to return to the first place that captured my heart.  I have never forgotten the first sunset I saw there.  Sigh...

50th Birthday - Eastern Caribbean Cruise Trip Report - November. 16 - 23, 2014

Is your 50th Birthday a big deal?  I suppose it should be, but it really wasn't for me.  I think birthdays stopped being important to me when I reached 21.  I remember my dad told me then that it seems like you wait your whole life till you turn 21 and then after that the years FLY by, faster and faster.  Very true.  The thought of being 50 makes me feel OLD!  Not in a bad way, but old nonetheless...I very much believe that "youth is beauty" and "youth is wasted on the young".  It certainly was, in my case.

Las Vegas Trip Report - May 25 - 30, 2014

My BFF ended up not being able to go on this planned trip so I decided to go solo.  I was really, really looking forward to going alone.  Vegas is the one place I enjoy being by myself not having to do anything  I don't want to.  I like not having to worry about anyone else but ME, ME, ME...it doesn't happen that often in my everyday life as I worry about everything but me, round the clock it seems...

Las Vegas Trip Report - December. 30 - January 6, 2014

Last November, a year ago, my son and I sat at Mon Ami Gabi staring out at the Bellagio on the Strip.  It was the last night of our trip that had him at a gaming convention and I was just a roommate doing the solo thing. We had both wrapped up our trip and were talking about spending Christmas in Vegas together this year.

Puerto Vallarta Trip Report - August 30th - September 6th, 2013

I (48) last visited Puerto Vallarta in June 2004 with my son (we stayed at the Grand Marival in Nuevo Vallarta that trip).  This time I went with a good friend (37) from work.  We knew it was rainy HOT & HUMID season there but we just wanted to get away and enjoy a 5-star resort.  Quite honestly, as time inched closer, I was really uncomfortable with the hot and humid thoughts that continually occupied my mind.  I swore after last visit, I would NEVER return in summer, but never say never, right?

Cincinnati Trip Report - May 26 - June 2, 2013

The friend I was going to visit in Ohio, I met when I was twenty-one (1986) on a Caribbean cruise, my first adventure on a ship on the ocean.  She was in the Army and on her honeymoon and I spent some time on the cruise with them.  Her and I wrote letters for years and were always in touch.  We have exchanged visits a few times as well.  We have remained good friends all this time, now twenty-seven years later.  When we talk or see each other, time stands still and we're as close as we've always been.  I consider her a true friend and am happy she is a part of my life.

New Orleans Trip Report - April 21 - 28, 2013

Do I need an excuse to return to New Orleans?  NO!  I have been pining to return since my last visit in Nov. 2010 (my first blog post too).  So, an invite from the people I cruised with last year in April was taken seriously and I told them I would join.  I ended up not doing the cruise portion because my friend(?) bowed out of doing this trip altogether after committing to it, and she was to be my roommate. She was also paying half so that hurt me financially.
